Building Edpa — The Journey

In my last post, I shared that I am starting a food brand from my village. But you might have a question in your mind: Why food? The answer did not come from a business plan or market research. It came from my own journey.

When Everything Changed

A few years ago, my world revolved around blogging. I spent years working on it, investing my time and energy, and believing that it could become my long-term career.

Then AI came along.

The world of blogging started changing so fast that the very thing I had relied on for years suddenly became uncertain. At one point, it felt like everything I had built had come to a stop. But stopping was not an option. I picked myself up and moved towards content creation, video editing, and other creative work.

Things started getting better. I learned new skills, found new projects, and slowly began building a new direction for myself. But deep inside, I still had one feeling.

I wanted to build something of my own.

I did not want to work only on other people's projects or keep completing freelance assignments. I wanted to create something where the results of my hard work would be truly mine. The only problem was that I had no idea what that something would be.

Then I Had to Return to My Village

Life took an unexpected turn when a family member's health suddenly became very serious. I had to put my work aside and return to my village.

Honestly, I was confused. What would happen to my work? What about my career? What would happen to the digital world I had spent years building? Returning to my village was not part of some business plan. I came back because of the circumstances.

But sometimes, life takes us to places where we begin to notice things that were always around us but that we had never really looked at in the same way.

Maybe the Answer Was Right Here

After returning to my village, I started looking at my surroundings differently. Slowly, I began to see a connection between two things. On one side, I had my skills: video editing, storytelling, design, branding, and digital content.

On the other side, my village and nearby areas had local resources whose real value I had never fully understood before. That made me think: Why not bring these two things together?

What if I could use my skills along with the resources available around my village to build something meaningful? Slowly, this thought started taking the shape of an idea.

But Why Food?

I did not choose food because it was a trending business category. I chose food because it felt naturally connected to where I came from.

There are more than just raw materials here. There are people, their hard work, local knowledge, traditional methods, and flavours that many people outside our region may never have experienced.

I started thinking that if I could combine my creative and digital skills with these local resources, I might be able to build a brand that does more than just sell food.

A brand that could also introduce these local products, traditions, and flavours to a much larger audience. And that is how the idea of Edpa Foods began.

I Did Not Have a Perfect Plan

Even today, if you ask me about the exact five-year roadmap for Edpa Foods, honestly, I do not have a perfect answer.

I do not know what next year will look like. I do not know which decisions will turn out to be right and which ones I might get wrong. And I do not know exactly where this journey will take me. But maybe that is okay.

We do not need to have every answer before we begin. Sometimes, we just need to know what the next step is. That is what I decided to do. Instead of waiting for a guarantee about the future, I took the first step and started building.

And Maybe That Was the Real Beginning of Edpa

Looking back today, the changes in my blogging career, my move towards content creation, my desire to build something of my own, my return to the village because of family circumstances, and my new way of looking at local resources no longer feel like completely separate events.

It feels as if each of these experiences slowly brought me to this point.

Edpa Foods.

At the time, I did not realise it. But today, I feel that Edpa was more than just a business idea. It was all the different pieces of my journey coming together. Now that I have decided to build this brand, another interesting question comes to mind.

Why the name Edpa?

What does this name mean? Why did I choose it? And most importantly, why is this name more than just a brand name to me? That is the story of the next chapter.
